Morning Service Live Stream
This week, we celebrate the third Sunday of Advent with a focus on Joy and a powerful message titled "Do You See What Simeon Sees?" through the Gospel of Luke. We explore how "seeing" Jesus clearly provides a peace that surpasses all understanding, even in the face of life's greatest trials.
Service Breakdown
- Worship and Music: We begin the service with a spirited congregational singing of "Joy to the World". Later, our youth and choir lead us in "Away in a Manger" and a moving special performance about the humble birth of our Savior.
- Bible Reading: The service includes a reading from Isaiah 9:1-7, prophesying the coming of the "Great Light" and the Prince of Peace who will establish justice and judgment forever.
- Children’s Corner: Our children's leader teaches on the difference between fleeting happiness and the lasting Joy found in Christ. Together, they light the pink "Shepherd’s Candle" to symbolize the excitement of the shepherds who first shared the good news.
- The Message: Minister Jason brings a message from Luke 2:25-35, focusing on the life of Simeon. Though advanced in years, Simeon was sustained by a promise from the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he beheld the Messiah. When he finally held the baby Jesus, he found the peace to "depart" according to God's Word.
Key Moments & Themes
- The Gift of "Simeon Vision": Just as a chameleon has specialized vision to survive, believers are called to have spiritual vision—to see Jesus not just as a historical figure, but as the literal embodiment of God’s salvation.
- Peace in Departure: Simeon’s story teaches us that when we have held the "Promise" in our hearts, we no longer have to fear death; it becomes a release into the presence of God.
- Salvation for All: Highlighting that Christ is a light for the Gentiles, the sermon emphasizes that the Gospel is a global invitation to every "messy" heart.
- A Special Prayer for Our Community: We take a moment to honor and pray for our local student-athletes, celebrating their journey and praying for their safety and sportsmanship as they represent our community.
